A place to belong, grow, contribute and lead.

Unity for Integration Project works alongside migrants, refugees, families and diverse communities to build confidence, strengthen wellbeing, develop skills, create connections and open pathways into participation and leadership.

Welcome to UFIP

Building belonging, opportunity and community leadership since 2013

Unity for Integration Project began in Glasgow in 2013 through grassroots community action and became a registered Scottish charity in 2015. Since then, we have grown alongside the communities we work with while keeping lived experience, trust and participation at the heart of our approach.

We work alongside migrants, refugees, families and diverse communities to strengthen wellbeing, build confidence, develop practical skills, create meaningful connections and open pathways into volunteering, participation and leadership.

From Unity Hub Glasgow, we bring together community support, children and family activities, wellbeing programmes, creative projects, training, volunteer development, cultural activity and community-led research.

Our aim is not only to help people feel welcome, but to create the conditions in which they can contribute their knowledge, develop their ideas, strengthen their voice and help shape the communities they are part of.

At UFIP, people are not only invited to take part. We create opportunities for community members to develop skills, volunteer, take responsibility, contribute their knowledge and grow into leadership.

01

Participate

Join a programme, event, activity or community space and begin building relationships and confidence.

02

Volunteer

Contribute time, knowledge and lived experience while gaining practical experience in a supportive environment.

03

Learn

Develop practical, creative, digital, communication and community-facing skills through training and mentoring.

04

Take Responsibility

Support activities, help organise programmes, contribute ideas and take on greater responsibility within the community.

05

Lead

Facilitate activities, support others, organise initiatives and grow into roles where your experience can strengthen the wider community.

06

Influence

Use lived experience, knowledge and leadership to help shape programmes, conversations and decisions that affect community life.

We build capacity within communities, not dependency on services.

Through training, mentoring and real opportunities to contribute, UFIP helps people move from receiving support towards greater confidence, agency, leadership and community influence.

Unity Hub Glasgow

From practical support and wellbeing activities to training, leadership development, cultural programmes and community-led research, the Hub creates space for people to participate, contribute ideas and grow in confidence and responsibility.

It also brings community groups, researchers, volunteers, organisations and partners together to share knowledge, develop ideas and respond collaboratively to community priorities.

The Hub also offers a large community hall, meeting and activity rooms, commercial kitchen, stage and audio equipment for appropriate community events, workshops, celebrations and private bookings.

Racial Justice, Voice & Representation

Belonging should come with voice, representation and influence.

At UFIP, integration is not only about helping people access services or adapt to existing systems. It is also about creating opportunities for migrant and racialised communities to be heard, represented, develop leadership and help shape the decisions and conversations that affect their lives.

Voice

We create spaces where people can tell their own stories, contribute their knowledge and speak from lived experience.

Representation

We support migrant and racialised people to be visible as volunteers, leaders, creatives, researchers and contributors.

Leadership

We create practical opportunities for people to develop skills, take responsibility, support others and grow into leadership.

Influence

We help lived experience contribute to programmes, research, partnerships and wider conversations about community priorities.

We believe communities should not simply be consulted after decisions are made. Their knowledge, experience and leadership should help shape what happens from the beginning.

Volunteer, develop and lead

Volunteers are central to UFIP. They welcome families, support programmes, share skills, contribute to events, help with outreach and strengthen the everyday life of our community.

Volunteering with UFIP is also an opportunity to grow. Through practical experience, mentoring and training, volunteers can develop confidence, build new skills, take on responsibility and progress into facilitation, organising and community leadership.

Whether you want to gain experience, contribute professional skills, share lived experience or develop as a community leader, there is a place for you at UFIP.
