Inside UFIP
Step inside the stories, people and moments that shape our community.
Every programme, shared meal, film, photograph and conversation tells part of UFIP’s story. Explore life inside the Unity Hub and meet the people creating a more connected Glasgow.
Behind every programme is a person. Behind every moment is a story.
Inside UFIP is where we share the people, creativity, conversations and everyday moments that bring our organisation to life.
Walk through the doors of the Unity Hub and you may find children creating films, volunteers preparing a community event, women gathering for wellbeing activities, families sharing food or community members helping shape new research.
This page brings those experiences together through film, photography, interviews, project stories and glimpses behind the scenes.

Ordinary people. Extraordinary impact.
Community Giants celebrates the people whose everyday actions create meaningful change across Glasgow’s diverse communities.
Through interviews and personal stories, the series recognises volunteers, organisers, advocates, creatives and local leaders whose work may not always make headlines, but whose impact is felt deeply by others.
“Real community leadership is often found in the people who keep showing up, helping others and creating change without seeking recognition.”
Helping young people move from watching stories to creating them
Young Voices Film Lab is being developed as a creative space where young people can learn filmmaking, build confidence and explore the stories that matter to them.
Learning through creativity
Participants will have opportunities to explore camera work, directing, sound, editing, interviewing and visual storytelling in a supportive environment.
Turning community knowledge into meaningful change
UFIP’s research work begins with the people whose experiences are too often missing from formal studies, services and public conversations.
Through participatory research, interviews, group discussions, creative documentation and shared learning, community members contribute knowledge about the issues affecting their everyday lives.
This approach ensures that research is not simply carried out about communities. It is developed with them, shaped by their priorities and shared in ways that can influence practice, partnerships and future decisions.
Current Research
Our Food, Our Health
A community research project exploring how food traditions, cultural identity, access, family life and lived experience shape health and wellbeing.
From the first preparations to the final conversations
No two days are exactly the same. The Unity Hub changes throughout the day as volunteers, families, participants, partners and guests fill the space with learning, activity and connection.
Volunteers arrive and the Hub comes to life
Tables are arranged, activity materials are prepared, food is organised and the team makes sure the space is ready to welcome everyone.
Children, families and participants arrive
The Hub fills with conversation, games, creative learning, practical support and the energy of people meeting and taking part together.
Lunch becomes a moment of connection
A shared meal creates space for conversation, friendship, cultural exchange and the simple comfort of eating together.
New sessions begin as the day continues
Women’s activities, skills sessions, research discussions or community meetings create new opportunities for learning and support.
Young people explore media and storytelling
Cameras, sound, ideas and teamwork come together as young people learn creative skills and develop confidence in their own voices.
The Hub welcomes events, celebrations and conversation
Some evenings bring exhibitions, meetings, screenings, cultural celebrations or private community gatherings into the space.
The work people do not always see
Every successful programme or event is supported by planning, preparation, teamwork and volunteers willing to contribute their time and energy.
“Community does not happen by accident. It is built through care, preparation, patience and people willing to work together.”
What people say about UFIP
The strongest measure of our work is not found only in reports or statistics. It is reflected in the experiences of the people who participate, volunteer and become part of our community.
UFIP gave me confidence again. I met people who genuinely cared, learnt new skills and realised I had something valuable to offer.
The volunteers welcomed us from the moment we arrived. It felt like joining a family rather than attending a project.
My children always ask when we are coming back. They feel safe, happy and excited every time they visit.
Celebrating achievement, culture and community contribution
UFIP’s celebrations create space for people to be seen, recognised and valued. They bring communities together through culture, creativity, storytelling and shared pride.
From red-carpet events and talent showcases to volunteer recognition and community exhibitions, these moments remind us that celebration is an important part of belonging.
Every photograph holds part of our story
These moments capture the joy, effort, connection and creativity that shape everyday life at UFIP.
The next chapter of UFIP is still being written.
Every programme, film, photograph and community moment is made possible by people who choose to participate, volunteer, collaborate and believe in the power of belonging.
There is a place for you in what comes next.
